Carbon Charter

What is the Carbon Charter?

The Carbon Charter consists of three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold which recognise the achievements of the business to date. Accreditation also brings with it membership of the Carbon Charter network and Charter businesses are supported to achieve continual improvement with the hope that they can move forward through the award levels.

What are the benefits of being accredited?

Carbon Charter accreditation demonstrates to others your business’ commitment to reducing its impact on the environment, by holding a nationally recognised mark.

Can my business apply?

The Carbon Charter is designed to be both meaningful and attainable for any business.  Whether you’re just starting out, or want to get formal recognition for your green achievements, this Charter will give you local recognition in a way your customers can understand. There are currently over 500 Carbon Charter members.

The minimum requirement is an audit of energy use to calculate a carbon footprint, adoption of a carbon reduction policy and a clear reduction target.

How much does it cost?

The full cost of a Charter Assessment is based on the size of your organisation – see below – and covers the costs of an onsite audit and helps to meet the accreditation requirements, through to the assessment and accreditation process. Subsidies are available – get in touch to find out more.
