Groundwork’s Green Leaders programme provides free mentoring, training and resources to help young people design their own environmental and climate change community projects.

Individuals with a passion for the environment can learn the skills needed to inspire others to take action to protect their local parks or green spaces.

Young people will be supported to design, create and start their own campaigns, events or social action groups to improve their local green space or park. Whether creating nature guides, rewilding a patch of unwanted space, or planting trees to combat pollution – Green Leaders make change happen.

What’s in it for you?

  • Training to boost your CV – gain leadership, project design and media skills, and earn a Green Leaders AQA Award by taking part in three core training sessions.
  • Volunteering sessions – take part in hands-on practical activities such as litter picking, bench building, food growing and more!
  • Mentoring – local Groundwork staff will support you to test your ideas and take practical action in a community space whether that be your local park, school grounds or community centre.
  • Funding – we’ll cover your travel costs and the materials you need to set up your community project.
