Growing St Andrews is a project funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund. It is aimed at reaching communities in and around the Hessle Road area of Hull, and over the next three years will work with residents to provide support to local community groups.
The project will bring about an improved physical environment for residents of St Andrews Ward, though through the provision of environmental education; and coordinated collective action that will result in the creation of sustainable quality green spaces for play socialising, learning, growing, cultural activities and celebrations.
The £276,000 for the Growing St Andrews project will help to strengthen community pride, cohesion and cultural understanding and integration by providing opportunities for local residents to work and learn together through workshops and collective action to improve their community. It will also help local people to make their money go further by enabling them to gain practical skills for life including food growing and re-using waste.
