The #iWill campaign was launched in 2019 by the Co-op with the idea to connect young people to social action opportunities that will lead to genuine community impact to improve community spaces.

Groundwork South will aim to launch two youth led projects in the towns of Saltash and Callington. Participants will research and then consult with peers about the community spaces that are available within their community and if they could be better utilised to meet the needs of young people. They will then present their findings to key stakeholders (Cornwall Council, Youth Services, town Councils etc) in the hope for support with their findings. In Saltash we will work with participants on a practical project to improve Saltmill Football pitch and Park in order to make the site more appealing to local young people. This will consist of on-site consultations leading to youth delivered improvements.

What we want to achieve:

  • Improve young people’s confidence  and empower them through the processes of the projects
  • Reduce social isolation with the hope to make young people more accountable and motivated
  • Young people can make a positive difference to others and the local areas around them.
  • Young people will learn a range of new skills such as volunteering, campaigning, supporting others, public speaking, presenting findings and making a research project.
