London and the South-East have been designated as areas of ‘Severe Water Stress’ by the UK Government’s Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). Water supplies are being stretched further each day as the population continues to grow. It’s estimated that by 2040, if we keep using water as we are today, we’ll need an extra 400 million litres a day. One of the solutions is for households and businesses to use water more wisely today, to collectively help prevent severe water shortages in the future.
That’s where we come in. Working in partnership with Thames Water, we offer free Smarter Home Visits to qualifying properties in the Thames Valley region to help them reduce their water use and save money. During the visit we can fix small leaks and offer to fit simple devices in your home for free, such as efficient shower heads, tap aerators and cistern displacers, all of which cut your water use, with out you even noticing.
Small changes have a huge impact. Last year in London we helped 16,000 households fitting 53,500 water-saving devices for free. These households saved an average £180 last year on their combined water and energy bills and are collectively saving 1.4 million litres of water every day.
