Teacher training workshops equip teachers with the tools to support young people, and offer best practice guidance.

Groundwork has a skilled team of youth workers with over 15 years of delivering a variety of projects that support young people. From youth centres, to mentoring and 121 support, the youth team offers young people to chance to build their skills, overcome barriers to success and learn tools to help them become resilient and successful. Groundwork also has a history of upskilling and empowering teachers to deliver extra-curricular activities, support and guidance to pupils on a wide spectrum of themes.


How are the workshops structured?

Workshops can form part of an INSET day or twilight training. There is a wide selection of themes that can be covered, and dependent on the need identified, certain topics can be delivered as briefly or in-depth as required.

Sessions can be tailored to your needs and run from two hours to a half day, they will vary based on your requirements, but typically will be formed of:

  • presentations
  • discussions
  • group work
  • tools for use
  • reflection time

Which topics can be covered?

Schools can choose from the following selection of sessions that are available at the lengths detailed below.

Two hours:

  • Anger management
  • Anti-bullying
  • Aspirations
  • CSE (child sexual exploitation)
  • Domestic Abuse & healthy relationships
  • Internet Safety
  • LGBTQI+ and identity
  • Mental Health and well-being
  • Pornography and Sexting
  • Self-esteem and confidence – motivation and positive thinking
  • Self-harm and/or suicide

The majority of these two hour sessions can be combined to create a half-day session

Half-day:

  • Domestic Abuse & healthy relationships
  • Mental Health and well-being
  • Pornography and Sexting
  • Self-esteem and confidence – motivation and positive thinking
  • Self-harm and/or suicide
