Big Local Project that works closely with the local communities of Moorsley, Peat Carr and Easington Lane

The 3 Together Big Local Partnership works closely with the local communities of Moorsley, Peat Carr and Easington Lane. We are now into our third and final plan which has been created in consultation with local residents, the programme is due to finish in March 2025.

The four aims of the Big Local Programme:

  • Communities will be better able to identify local needs and take action in response to them
  • People will have increased skills and confidence, so that they continue to identify and respond to needs in the future
  • The community will make a difference to the needs it prioritises
  • People will feel that their area is an even better place to live

What we have achieved so far

  • Commissioned and funded community transport scheme
  • Commissioned and funded Young People programme
  • A dedicated COVID-19 response fund – £32,000 awarded to community organisations
  • A community gym based at Easington Lane Primary School
  • Mindful walking from two community locations
  • Skate park in partnership with Sunderland City Council
  • Social prescribing pilot programme
  • Worked towards a new community building in Moorlsey
  • Community Fund grants scheme awarded more than £42,000
