TRAC

Groundwork North Wales work collaboratively with county TRAC teams to reduce the number of young people at highest risk of becoming NEET in North Wales, through a range of bespoke learning programmes & related qualifications that will complement but not duplicate mainstream services.

Who is TRAC for?

Young people that are eligible for our projects are identified by TRAC teams through a learner profile tool that runs through schools and colleges. The tool uses multiple data strands such as behaviour, attainment, attendance & exclusions and this generates a score that tells TRAC teams if the young person would be eligible for one of our projects.

What do Groundwork offer?

Our experienced and inclusive team will work with the schools and young people identified through TRAC and with their input develop a bespoke scheme of work that they then work towards over a period of several weeks.

Each course is varied in content and is designed to encourage them to explore varied opportunities outside of the classroom setting, rewarding engagement with related qualifications.  We have successfully delivered to groups Some previous courses have included:

  • Introduction to construction
  • CSCS card mentoring
  • Teamwork & communication
  • Resilience building
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Self-defence
  • Bike maintenance
  • Employer visits
  • Wildlife surveying
  • Bushcraft skills
  • Volunteering in the community

Every participant will have individual ways of deeming their personal success and progression. Our hope is through these positive learning experiences we can build confidence, leadership skills and develop personal qualities that support their engagement with school.

Here are some comments from 3 of our learners from Argoed High School, Flintshire.
