Groundwork in London

Waste, reuse and recycling

We help people work together to reduce waste, to raise awareness of the need to reuse and recycle and to save money by having access to pre-loved and recycled products.

From neighbourhood campaigns to furniture refurbishment, our work aims to challenge our disposable society and lay the groundwork for a more circular economy. We also link our larger waste initiatives to training and skills in areas like joinery, electrics, warehousing and customer service.

We help people work together to reduce waste, to raise awareness of the need to reuse and recycle and to save money by having access to pre-loved, refurbished and upcycled products.

From creating neighbourhood campaigns to supporting sustainable social enterprises, our work aims to combat our disposable society and lay the groundwork for a more circular economy. We also use our larger waste initiatives to help volunteers and people looking for work get training and skills in areas like joinery, electrics, warehousing and customer service.

Our services include:

  • Community clean ups:  social action to bring people together and tackle the blight of litter and local grot spots
  • Environmental education: teaching children about waste and recycling within schools, linking to the curriculum.
  • Local campaigns: encouraging people to recycle, tackle plastic pollution, or reduce food waste through events and competitions.
  • Refurbishment hubs: centres where we remove items from the waste stream and fix them up for low cost resale benefiting low income families.
