Help make green spaces Inclusive Spaces
Our Inclusive Spaces campaign aims to connect 100 young people who are passionate about their local environment with 100 community groups across the UK. We will support them to collaborate on community events raising the profile of local parks and green spaces.
The campaign kicks off this summer, culminating with a week of action, 23-29th July 2018.
Why are we doing this?
Inclusive Spaces was developed through our ‘Groundwork Youth’ initiative, which empowers young people and community groups to collaborate and work together to tackle the issues affecting the places where they live. Working closely with a dedicated youth advisory board, we supported a national network of 16 – 24 year olds to identify the biggest issues facing young people in communities across the UK.
- There are too many barriers to young people being able to volunteer in their local green spaces - 69% of 16 – 24 year olds said they would volunteer but only 7% actually do.
- 96% of community groups want to work with young volunteers but 81% are also unsure of how to do so.
Inclusive Spaces will bridge this gap by brokering relationships between the two groups and inspiring them to take action together in their neighbourhoods during 23 – 29th July.
