Community services

We give communities the tools to take the lead for themselves, and support collective action to tackle environmental challenges.  We also run community facilities like gardens, allotments and centres and organise events, play and volunteering sessions that bring different groups together, build social connections and boost wellbeing.

Our services:

  • Community engagement and capacity building
  • Supporting volunteering and social action
  • Environmental education
  • Health and wellbeing

Our strengths:

  • Practical social action: we help people roll up their sleeves and make a practical difference to their surroundings, generating a sense of achievement and leaving a tangible impact.
  • Track record: we’ve been consulting, involving and enabling communities for over three decades, and we understand how to reach those who often aren’t asked for their views.
  • Community enablers: we specialise in helping people get organised and take their first steps towards committed community action.
  • Connecting people to nature: we bring people together through local environmental improvements, and we’re passionate about the benefits of nature and green infrastructure to wellbeing.
  • Multiple outcomes: we design initiatives that improve lives and neighbourhoods in multiple ways: for example improving a local park while also reducing isolation and increasing physical activity.
Community engagement and capacity building

Community engagement and capacity building

We work with grassroots groups within communities to help them to make lasting improvements to where they live and empower them to have an active voice in decisions that affect them. We are experts at engaging people whose voices may be seldom heard and in using practical projects to improve health and wellbeing, promote integration and increase the take-up of services.

Volunteering and social action

Volunteering and social action

We help people take action together to improve neighbourhoods and support others in need. Through regular volunteering and one-off social action events, we harness the skills and passion of people of all ages and backgrounds to play a positive role in their community and take action on the environment.

Environmental education

Environmental education

We help children, families and the wider community become better connected with nature and learn more about the big issues affecting our environment locally and globally. That means promoting environmental awareness and action on issues such as litter, waste, air pollution, healthy food and the protection of green spaces.

Health and wellbeing

Health and wellbeing

We help create healthier, greener places to live, run community activities that encourage healthier living and support people through practical volunteering to improve their wellbeing and manage health conditions.
