About Groundwork South and North Tyneside

Groundwork South and North Tyneside is a community charity which operates throughout North and South Tyneside. We believe the most powerful transformations begin at a local level and work closely with residents, volunteers and regional and national partners, to drive impactful and sustainable economic, environmental and emotional change from the heart of the community. We offer a range of support services, programmes and events to: re-connect people with nature, provide training and development opportunities and support positive health and wellbeing. We also invest in the local culture and heritage and in partnership with South Tyneside Council, we operate Jarrow Hall, an iconic regional venue and home to Bede Museum and an Anglo-Saxon Village and Farm. In addition, we manage West Boldon Lodge – part of the National Grid Environmental Education Centre Network – which delivers programmes and activities for families, young children and local schools with the aim of inspiring, educating and connecting people with nature. Groundwork South and North Tyneside forms part of Groundwork, a national federation of charitable trusts.
