Groundwork takes practical action to create a fair and green future in which people, places, and nature thrive.

We support local communities and businesses to build capacity and resilience as this is vital if we are to tackle hardship, achieve a just transition to net-zero and help nature recover in a way that reduces inequality and leads to better work and healthier, happier lives.

Creating green jobs

The ‘Love my River’ project connects communities with their local rivers to help them to protect and monitor biodiversity. Jake joined the project from university and has used it as a springboard to get the experience he needs in ecology to follow his dream to become a wildlife documentary filmmaker. Groundwork supports people into thousands of green jobs like this every year, helping to create a better and greener future for people and communities across the UK.

Building strong communities

Feeling isolated in a new place is tough. Just ask Abi, who moved to Grange Park, Blackpool as a young mum 8 years ago and didn’t know anyone to begin with. But everything changed when she discovered @TheGrange. Abi’s story is a beautiful testament to the power of a local hub where people and families feel supported, included and truly valued. She says @TheGrange is “amazing” and the sort of place every community needs.

Our impact

Making a difference isn’t just our goal, it’s the very reason we exist. We are changing places and changing lives every day and are extremely proud of the positive impact that our work has. In the last year:
