Deep Clean Programme Gives Knutsford Town Centre A Refresh

A major deep clean has been carried out in Knutsford town centre, giving the historic streets a well-deserved refresh.
This initiative has been led by Knutsford Business Improvement District – which is proudly managed by Groundwork‘s Business Team. A two-week cleansing programme is designed to rejuvenate the local environment, enhance public spaces, and actively support local businesses by making the town center an even more attractive place to visit and live.
The extensive jet-washing and deep-cleaning works are being carried out by specialist contractors Cheshire Washer Ltd. The scheme targets some of Knutsford’s busiest and most prominent high streets and public zones, including Canute Place, Princess Street, Tatton Street, Minshull Street, and King Street.
Investment In Action
The initiative represents a core part of Knutsford BID’s ongoing mission to reinvest in the town, boost footfall, and maintain the unique character of the area.
Speaking about the project, Gill Taylor, Knutsford BID Manager, said: “Knutsford BID has been established to deliver improvements for the town centre and to support the businesses that make Knutsford such a special place. This cleansing programme is a positive early example of that investment in action.”
We really appreciate the patience and support of businesses, residents and visitors while this important work is being carried out.
Minimising Disruption
To keep disruption to local businesses and daytime shoppers to an absolute minimum, the deep cleaning was predominantly carried out overnight between 11pm and 4am. In some residential-facing areas, works have been scheduled to start slightly earlier from 7pm. Public access was maintained wherever possible.
As the team at Groundwork continues to manage and support the Knutsford BID, projects like this reflect our commitment to creating cleaner, greener and more vibrant town centres where local economies and community pride can thrive.
