About Groundwork Northamptonshire
We are a local charity rooted in communities across the county. While you may know us through our award-winning Green Patch community garden in Kettering, our work extends far beyond that.
Our mission is simple: to strengthen communities, support families and individuals, and reduce pressure on public services – particularly health and social care – through practical, local action. We do this by delivering hands-on projects that improve wellbeing, create opportunity, and build resilience.

Groundwork has been built upon the belief that wherever you are born or live, everyone should have the right to access the same chances. With equality and inclusion at our core, we bring the people of Northamptonshire together through a number of green and creative projects. All this is underpinned by an exceptional youthwork programme, with Groundwork supporting more than 1,000 children and young people every year.

Through our range of initiatives – which include our youthwork and Green Doctors programmes, The Green Patch, Grow Cook Eat project and Made with Many – we ensure everyone can access and enjoy green spaces, live a life filled with culture and creativity, and get the support they need to manage challenging times. Groundwork is here to make a positive difference to lives – to inspire individuals to strive for more and to empower communities to come together.

Become a trustee
We’re looking for new trustees to join our board – and that could mean you. At Groundwork Northamptonshire, we believe in the power of local people to lead local change. Our projects help young people thrive, protect and restore green spaces, and bring communities together across the county.
Trustees are volunteers who help guide and govern a charity. They support the leadership team, contribute to strategic decisions, and ensure the charity stays true to its mission, values and goals. You don’t need to have all the answers. Just the interest, the commitment – and the willingness to be part of something bigger. Find out more about becoming a trustee
