We are excited to officially welcome three new Board Members to Groundwork: Cirklen Yu, Danny Hawkins and Sean Owen.

Each brings a wealth of diverse experience, unique perspectives and a shared passion for making a difference. Their combined expertise is set to be a massive asset not only to our internal team and governing Board but, most importantly, to the people and communities we serve.

A Green Welcome For New Board Members

To kick off their first official Board meeting, our new trustees didn’t just sit in a boardroom  —they got out in nature. The trio took a tour of Grow Speke in Liverpool, a great example of what our mission looks like in action.

If you haven’t had the chance to visit yet, Grow Speke is an incredible urban green hub that has become a cornerstone of the local neighbourhood. It drives community impact every day by focusing on three core pillars:

  • Community Space: Operating as a vibrant, green sanctuary where neighbors can gather, share stories, and build lasting connections.
  • Education: Providing hands-on horticulture, workshops, and valuable training opportunities that empower locals with new skills.
  • Wellbeing: Offering a peaceful, natural environment specifically designed to boost both physical and mental health.

Why We Do What We Do

The visit served as a perfect reminder of why we do what we do, providing Cirklen, Danny, and Sean with a firsthand look at the communities and projects they will be helping to steer forward.

To celebrate the occasion, the team snapped a quick photo during the Grow Speke tour:
