Save energy, save money and stay warm – Stay Warm in Wellingborough launched
Households in Wellingborough can now get free, friendly support to help them stay warm this winter, as Groundwork Northamptonshire launches our new Stay Warm in Wellingborough programme.

We pride ourselves on strengthening communities through a diverse range of green and creative projects, youthwork, and wellbeing initiatives – and we are thrilled to have launched this project thanks to funding from Cadent and support from Groundwork UK.
Our team of Green Doctors – all trained energy experts – are now offering friendly, practical guidance to help people in Wellingborough reduce their energy bills and make their homes warmer.
Kimberley Lawson, Operations Director of Groundwork Northamptonshire, said: “We know many families are still feeling the pressure of high energy bills and colder homes. That’s why we’re here in Wellingborough – offering free, friendly support to help you save energy, save money and stay warm. Our Green Doctors are trained energy advisers from the local area who take time to listen and understand your home and situation. There’s no pressure, no judgement, and everything we do is completely free. If it helps, someone you already know can introduce you or join the visit, so you feel supported every step of the way.”
Alongside visiting households, we are also looking for up to 10 local Community Champions. These volunteers will help spread the word about Stay Warm in Wellingborough, reach more people who could benefit, and share information within their own networks.
Edgeworth Taderera, Youth Engagement Officer, adds: “If you live in Wellingborough and want to give back to your community, we’d love your help. Being a Community Champion is a great way to support your neighbours, and for younger volunteers, it’s also a chance to gain experience and boost your CV. For older volunteers, it’s an opportunity to use your local knowledge and connections to make a real difference in your community.”
A full programme of community events will be shared in the new year, including where people can meet the team each week and learn more about the support available.
We are now finalising plans for a Spread the Warmth campaign in early 2026, through which we hope to encourage people who have already received help from a Green Doctor to tell friends, neighbours, colleagues or family members.
Stay Warm in Wellingborough is completely free for all local households, thanks to Cadent funding. The programme aims to make a real difference to people’s homes, energy bills and peace of mind this winter.
