David is Chairperson of Groundwork Northern Ireland. A housebuilder by profession, David is also a Chartered Director, a Chartered Surveyor and a Fellow of the RICS and is Managing Director of several corporate entities that both own, manage and develop commercial and residential properties within Northern Ireland. David’s career has thus consisted of creating spatial environments that are compelling to customers; therein community well-being, the natural form and the built form are equally important. David studied and worked in England and overseas for 10 years including a career as a yacht captain and still enjoys sailing with his family.

Thanks to his PhD in Welfare Economics centred on the well-being of older people David became a Trustee of AGE NI and served on their board for eight years. He the experience most rewarding, in particular being able to assist with the Corporate Governance rigour required of charities. David continues find the Trustee role rewarding, particularly the added insight that being a committee Chair, Chairperson or Vice Chairperson offers. He recommends those roles highly since the additional interaction adds greatly to the Trustee experience.
