Nathan is a Graduate Advisor on our Business Energy Efficiency (BEE) project, a three-year programme that provides free support to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to become more energy efficient.
What’s your favourite thing about BEE Anglia?
It’s amazing to be able to work on a project that’s main aim is to reduce carbon emissions and help businesses save money, all at no cost to them! It's especially great for those that might not otherwise ever be able to spare the time to consider their energy use or carbon emissions.
What did you do before working on BEE Anglia?
I recently graduated from UEA after my MSc year. Having been studying for the last five years it’s great to finally get into work and start working towards getting out of the red, and I’m so lucky to have found something I love.
What would you be doing if you weren’t here?
I would probably still be looking for work, or cycling for Deliveroo. I was actually signing my contract for them when I got the phone call with the job offer from Groundwork!
What’s your favourite place in the world?
Fiordland National Park in New Zealand. I was lucky enough to spend a year abroad there as part of my BSc at UEA and although there was plenty to see and do, I kept having to go back to this amazing piece of (almost) pristine wilderness.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Pork scratchings. Thanks to Ollie, who keeps buying them from the food trollies at lunch, I have reverted to calling it my favourite food again.
If you could have any super power, what would you choose?
Tough one. Some kind of healing power would be nice. Such that you could heal yourself and do adventurous things like skydiving with no need for a parachute, but also be able to help other people in need.
Tell us something about you that we couldn’t guess.
I have a passion for climate change. Not for it to happen of course, you know what I mean… I aim to have a career that I will be able to look back on and say that I did all I could to make a difference.
