Martin Hockaday

I am a sustainability professional with deep expertise in carbon footprints and environmental and energy management systems. I currently lead the assurance division of a leading climate change consultancy and prior to that I managed the environmental business sector for a leading UKAS-accredited management system certification body. I am a Chartered Environmentalist and a Full Member of the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP).
Over my career I have provided services to organisations of all sizes and shapes and in many sectors – including food and drink, manufacturing, professional services, transportation, construction and education – I’ve even audited a royal palace.
I’m very proud to be able to help support Groundwork East as a Trustee as I’m a strong believer in sustainable communities. My journey with Groundwork East actually began back in 2007, when I spent three months as a volunteer updating our environmental management system. The experience I gained doing this helped me kick-start my career as a sustainability professional, and as such I am now very glad to be able to give back to the organisation that played such a key role in the formative part of my professional story.
In my spare time I enjoy walks in the countryside, spending time with family and friends, photography and listening to music.
