Food Growing and Healthy Eating
We give communities the tools to take the lead for themselves, and support collective action to tackle environmental challenges. We also run community facilities like gardens, allotments and centres and that bring different groups together, reach valuable life skills, build social connections and boost wellbeing. We help children, families and the wider community become better connected with nature and learn more about the big issues affecting our environment locally and globally. That means promoting environmental awareness and action on issues such as litter, waste, air pollution, healthy food and the protection of green spaces.
Take a look at some of the programmes we are currently running:
Memorial Park, Luton

A hub of food growing activities where our staff work with residents to care for a garden, growing fruit, veg and learning about healthy eating and cooking.
Home Grown

A project designed to enable everyone to benefit from gardening and being active outdoors, no matter the age or experience, to grow in any space however large or small!
Grow it, Cook it

Groundwork runs courses across the East of England that introduce families to growing and cooking, to improve their health and well-being.
Home Grown for funders

An online course that supports families with young children showing them how to grow their own fruit and veg at home and how to cook food together.
Veg Fest

Veg Fest is the inter-school growing competition that runs throughout the growing season, culminating in a celebration across the East of England.
Family Gardening

A two hour gardening session open to families to learn the basics of gardening, where our food comes from and to feel the benefits of working with nature.
