Olivia Brindle Trustee

I lead the Sustainability function for a global insurance and reinsurance provider. My team works to find ways for our company to be more sustainable in its interactions with clients, employees as well as the world around us – while continuing to meet our commercial objectives as a business. We consider levers across the operations, investment activity and underwriting of the firm. Articulating what it means for an insurer to be ‘sustainable,’ then implementing this, is no easy task – but I believe it is important to build a more responsible business environment. I am also convinced that it is in the long-term best interest of companies to operate sustainably: both in terms of their reputation and their bottom line.

Before moving into sustainability, I worked at the intersection of finance and insurance for 14 years, in organisations such as Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Swiss Re.

I am passionate about nature, both in terms of enjoying it at a personal level (I am an avid scuba diver) and working to protect it (I have done a marine conservation placement in Mexico).

I am truly proud to be a trustee for Groundwork East – a charity which connects environmental topics to real communities. I believe we can have more impact and deliver a wider range of benefits by focusing on the ways in which a healthy natural environment and healthy society interact, rather than treating them as if they were independent.

Olivia became a Trustee for Groundwork East in September 2026.
