Groundwork East launches 2025/26 Impact Report
We’re pleased to share our 2025/26 Impact Report, highlighting the social and environmental impact created through our projects, partnerships and practical action across the East of England.
Over the past year, we delivered 135 projects across six counties, supported 12,553 people and worked with 1,711 organisations. Our work also helped improve more than 53,000m² of land for people and nature, supported households facing energy and water pressures, encouraged greener choices and identified almost 13.8 million kg CO₂e in potential carbon savings.
The report brings our work together through three interconnected themes — People, Places and Planet — showing how environmental action can also create wider social value for individuals, communities and organisations.
Among the projects featured are Wellies in the Woods, helping young children and families build stronger connections with nature; our work to restore and reconnect communities with the River Colne in Watford; school rain gardens supporting climate resilience in Essex; Green Doctor support for households across the East of England; and the national Water Literacy Programme, which trained 2,555 learners during its pilot phase.

As part of the wider Groundwork Federation, we work with communities, local authorities, businesses, funders and voluntary organisations to create greener places, improve wellbeing and skills, strengthen local resilience and help people develop deeper connections with nature.
This report is a reflection of the commitment of our staff, volunteers, partners and funders, and of the difference that can be achieved when people work together around shared challenges. I’m incredibly proud of what has been achieved over the past year and of the lasting value this work is creating across the East of England.
