Tesco volunteers help create new community garden at Groundwork East’s Hatfield site

Thank you to Tesco staff who volunteered as part of their company CSR to help set up a community garden at our Hatfield site.

The garden will provide dedicated space to run projects and activities for the local community such as:

• Opportunities for children, families and young people to learn to grow fresh fruit and vegetables
• Access to green skills courses
• Opportunities to get people back into the workforce
• A safe green space for families and children to learn about and enjoy nature
• Improved physical and mental wellbeing for the people using the community garden

This garden will enable Groundwork East to provide more opportunities for the community, and the support Tesco has provided is fundamental in the garden’s creation and the legacy we aim for it to have in Hatfield.

The Tesco corporate volunteering group rated the experience excellent, with ‘teamwork’ and ‘using our people power for good’ being highlights.  They also felt that their work was making a difference and that they felt more connected to nature, as well as the benefits of learning new skills!
