Over the past year, 130 people who work at Allwyn UK  have joined us across Hertfordshire to roll up their sleeves and make a real difference to local spaces and communities, and more having pledged to volunteer in the coming months.

In a recent ‘Green Aiders’ session (a Groundwork garden rescue service), the team transformed an overgrown garden into a safe, welcoming space for a family. What was once unusable is now somewhere a recovering husband can find peace, and a young child has room to play.

Along the River Colne, they tackled thousands of invasive Himalayan balsam plants, helping restore native habitats and protect the health of the riverbanks.

Volunteers from Allwyn also supported vital wetland maintenance in Watford along the River Colne, clearing encroaching scrub, creating natural habitats, and helping protect the area for both wildlife and flood resilience.

Their community litter picks, helped make shared green spaces cleaner and more enjoyable for everyone.

Whether in heavy rain or summer heat, what stands out is the team’s energy, determination and genuine commitment to making a difference.

Partnerships like this show how volunteering can deliver real impact: for nature, for communities, and for the people who take part.
