Take on this iconic challenge with Team Groundwork and run to change places and change lives in the communities that need it the most.

The Great North Run is the biggest half marathon in the UK with over 57,000 runners taking part in the iconic event.

Starting in Newcastle upon Tyne, the 13.1 mile course takes runners through the city centre and towards the River Tyne where thousands of people will cross the iconic Tyne Bridge. The route, lined by thousands of supporters, leads runners through Gateshead to South Shields. Hear the crowds cheering louder as runners make their way down the final straight towards the finish line!


Apply now to join Team Groundwork in the Great North Run 2022. We have limited places so please fill out the application form to the best of your ability and we will be in touch in the coming weeks. In return for your place, we ask that you pledge to raise the minimum fundraising amount of £300 and we will be on hand to support you every step of the way.

By running for Groundwork, you will get:

  • Ongoing support from our fundraising team with ideas, inspiration and materials to help you hit your pledge and reach your goals
  • Your own Groundwork running vest to take part in
