Vacancy: Green Doctor Energy Advisor

Location: East Lincolnshire – hybrid at home and in the community
Working hours: 37.5 per week
Contract: Full time, permanent
Starting salary £25,750 – once qualified £27,295
Application closing date: 5pm 30th June 2026
Must have a valid driving license and own transport.

Are you a confident communicator? Do you want to help vulnerable people to be better off? Then you’re what we’re looking for and you should apply to become a Green Doctor!

Visit people in their own home to offer energy and money saving advice bespoke to that their needs, and attend community events.

We help people to find better tariffs, encourage energy-saving behaviours, advise on energy debt, benefits and grants, tackle damp and mould, install small measures (radiator foil, LED bulbs, etc) and more – no two days are the same!

Knowledge or qualifications of energy efficiency would be useful but not vital, we will provide full training. We welcome passionate people of all ages and backgrounds.

Volunteering

From planting and coppicing trees to litter picking and weeding, there are tasks for people of all ages, abilities and knowledge levels – with lots of green skill training opportunities. It’s a great way to meet people and boost your mental health, all while giving back by looking after green spaces for your whole community to enjoy.

You can come regularly or just try a taster session. Full training and PPE will be provided, and we will also reimburse you for commuting costs.

Nottinghamshire

Harworth & Bircotes: Every Monday 9am – 2pm at Snipe Park Wood, with tasks like improving pathways, creating wildlife habitats, small construction tasks like building fences, and more.

Nottingham (Bilborough): Flexible dates to make our Little Walled Garden community hub a thriving space for all. Our volunteering projects include building a cob oven for social eating and maintenance of the site (gardening).

Worksop: Every Friday 9:30am – 2:30pm at our Cheapside Green Community Hub. We need volunteers to help us with: DIY, gardening, growing produce to share with local people in need, running family-friendly events, etc.

Derbyshire / Amber Valley

Tuesday 23 June/Wednesday 1 July/Tuesday 7 July: One-off events to build fruit cages for pear and apple trees at Netherseal Community Woods, Swadlincote. All dates are 9:30am – 12:30pm. Find out more and sign up by clicking here.

Bolsover: Every Monday 10am – 1pm we’re at the Clowne Greenway and every other Wednesday from 9:30 – 1:30pm, at Archaeological Way

Hayfield, High Peak: Every other Wednesday from 9:45 at the Pennine Bridleway.

Matlock: Every Thursday 9:30am – 12pm, we are looking after Denefield Meadows

Red River Local Nature Reserve in Heanor & Loscoe: Every second Saturday of the month from 10am – 12pm

Carr Wood Local Nature Reserve in Ripley: Every Wednesday 9am – 12:30pm

Hammersmith Meadows Nature Reserve in Ripley: One Wednesday morning a month

Pennytown Ponds Local Nature Reserve in Somercotes: Every other Wednesday morning

Sandbed Lane in Belper: One Friday morning a month

Meet the team

We have three fantastic volunteer leaders, who each look after multiple green spaces and existing volunteer groups. They are friendly, knowledgeable on all things nature and conservation, and will welcome you gladly!
