Green Doctor – Energy Advisor

Support communities to save money and energy at home. You can make a real difference!

We are recruiting for a: Green Doctor – Energy Advisor

Are you a confident communicator? Do you want to help vulnerable people to be better off? Then you're what we're looking for and you should apply to become a Green Doctor - an energy efficiency expert!

Job Purpose

You will be visiting people in their own home to offer energy and money saving advice bespoke to that household's needs, and attending community events to give on-the-spot advice to promote the service and drive referrals to the service.

Advice we give includes helping people to find better tariffs, encouraging energy-saving behaviours, advising on energy debt, benefits and grants they're eligible for, preventing damp and mould, installing small measures (radiator foil, LED bulbs, etc) - no two days are the same! It’s a unique role that gives you the chance to make a difference to people’s lives every day.

This role requires a dynamic, organised and dedicated person who can think on their feet, someone with a caring nature who has a strong desire for helping people and is passionate about making a difference. We welcome passionate people of all ages and backgrounds, there is no particular work experience or training we're looking for - it's all about your personality!

Knowledge or qualifications of energy efficiency would be useful but not vital, we will provide full training for the successful candidates, including nationally recognised qualifications in energy efficiency.

The job is hybrid around East Lincolnshire (at home, in beneficiary homes and community venues), with flexible working hours considered. You must have a valid driving license and own transport.

• To provide tailored energy advice to householders in their homes, at community locations and by phone. Understanding their needs and using coaching skills and knowledge to support behavioural changes.
• Deliver events, energy surgeries and roadshows to raise awareness and generate referrals in local communities. Using social media to increase awareness/uptake.
• Provide in-depth support to people about switching energy supplier, applying for energy related grants and onward referrals to meet client’s needs.
• Supplying and fitting small energy saving measures (LED bulbs, radiator foil, etc)
• Support people to access relevant and complementary services, liaising with other agencies.
• To maintain accurate records and other administrative duties commensurate with the role.
• Book and schedule visits and respond to referrals from funders in a timely manner.
• Work with other Green Doctors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards.
