Miner's Memorial Meadows

Miners' Memorial Meadows

Miners' Memorial Meadows focused on two strands of work - mining heritage and natural heritage. The project was designed to research the impact of Northumbrian miners on WW1 and how their expertise was utilised underground to gain advantage in this war. At the same time, school children and volunteers worked to create three wildflower meadows in old mining areas to commemorate the miners who were involved in World War 1.
