NCS Sessional Team Leader

Salary:                                       £8.43 per hour

Length of Role:                      2 Residential Weeks which will be paid @47 hours per residential and

                                                    60 hours social action planning and delivery

Groundwork NE & Cumbria in partnership with Veducation are delivering the fantastic National Citizen Service (NCS) programme.

National Citizen Service (NCS) is a fantastic programme which brings together 16-17 year olds from different backgrounds to learn new skills and to make a difference within their local communities over the summer. NCS is an inclusive, part-residential programme aimed at increasing participant’s leadership, teamwork and communication skills as well as developing trust, responsibility, understanding and empathy.

About the role

This role requires you to lead a team of up to 15 diverse 16-17 year olds through the programme. Your role will require you to support, stretch and maximise the learning outcome of the NCS participants throughout all phases (numbered 1-4) including attending a keep warm event and mentoring the team through their social action project. This role is ideal for someone who has experience working with teams of young people, delivering sessions and other leadership activities and is passionate about social action in their community.

With a competitive rate of pay and a free DBS Check, first aid training and safeguarding level 2, we will support you with everything you need in order to support your group of young people to flourish on their NCS journey.

About you

We want someone like you with the ability to inspire and motivate individuals and teams to bring out and maximise their potential. Your role will require a passion and enjoyment around working with teenagers and an ability to empathise and refrain from making judgement.

In your role you must be willing to participate fully and enthusiastically, and have the ability to remain calm and collected and manage a team whilst tired or stressed. You will engage and develop the respect and attention of a group of 16-17 year olds by delivering and leading sessions with an understanding of group dynamics.
