  • Common lime is a hybrid of small-leaved lime and large-leaved lime and is rare in the wild in the UK.
  • Lime bark was traditionally used to make rope, and lime flowers were considered a valuable source of food for honey bees.
  • The British common lime tree does not produce the citrus lime fruit.  Instead it produces winged nut-like fruits.
