Groundwork began its work in 1982 against a backdrop of social and economic crisis. As we mark 40 years of operations we reflect on what we have achieved throughout our history, celebrate the individuals who have transformed their lives and communities with a helping hand from our Trusts, and acknowledge the challenges we continue to face today.

Although many things have changed for the better since the 1980s, the climate, nature and cost of living crises pose even greater threats to our health and wellbeing. So long as communities face an uncertain future, Groundwork will be there to hear their voices and empower people to take practical action – on their terms.
