Tesco Bags of Help has changed to Tesco Community Grants.

Tesco Community Grants fund thousands of local community projects across the UK, helping to fight holiday hunger, tackle mental health, support young people, host community events and much more.

Please visit the tescocommunitygrants.org.uk website to find out more about what kinds of projects can be supported, to apply for a grant and to nominate local projects.

Tesco Community Grants support local good causes that focus on helping children and families.

Our legacy

Starting in 2016, and originally funded from the carrier bag charge, Bags of Help supported thousands of community organisations. In this time we’ve supported more than 6,000 schools, over 2,000 sports teams, 2,300 Brownies, Guides, Rainbows, Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Rangers groups and 1,400 elderly and vulnerable groups.

In August 2017 Tesco replaced single use carrier bags with new Bags for Life made from 94% recyclable plastic, to help reduce bag use even further.

In April 2021 the programme changed to Tesco Community Grants, but it is still supporting good causes in your local area.

About Groundwork

Tesco Bags of Help is administered by Groundwork.  We are a federation of charities working nationally and locally to transform lives in the UK’s most disadvantaged communities.

We’re passionate about creating a future where every neighbourhood is vibrant and green, every community is strong and able to shape its own destiny and no-one is held back by their background or circumstances.
