How old do I have to be?

Pets Corner is over 14 years, Town Park is over 16 years.

What opportunities are available?

You can volunteer in lots of different ways in the Town Park.

Harlow Town Park

  • Tuesday and Thursday 10am – 2pm (meet at the Walled Gardens) you can volunteer in the Town Park to carry out gardening and horticultural work.
  • Saturday afternoons 1pm – 3pm on the second Saturday of every month (except July, where it will be the third) a list of upcoming events can be found here.
  • The Town Park user Group meet quarterly to discuss the park and any improvements – find out more.

Harlow Museum

  • Tuesday and Friday at 10am in the main garden – carry out gardening and horticultural work to the Walled Gardens, creating an inviting and serene surrounding for the Museum.
  • Or you could get involved with helping with the running of the Museum itself. This could range from welcoming and directing visitors, to research and supporting events.

Harlow Conservation Volunteers

  • Meet every 2 weeks on a Sunday to carry out conservation tasks – find out more.

Leah Manning Centre

  • The Leah Manning Centre volunteers help with social activities, such as arts and crafts, quizzes, singing and games. There are also occasional outings, like trips to the bowling alley or restaurants, where volunteers are needed to assist people in wheelchairs.
  • You do not need any special skills, but having a hobby or interest to share is very helpful.

Pets Corner

  • During opening hours, from 12pm – 3.40pm daily.
  • Pets’ Corner offers many volunteering opportunities, including working with the animals, helping with events and in our gift shop.
  • Volunteering can be any day of the week, for a couple of hours or all day – all we ask for is enthusiasm and a love of animals, as training is given on site.
