Routes to Low Carbon Jobs

Green Doctor: Routes to Low Carbon Jobs is part-funded by the European Social Fund

We will offer support to over 416 unemployed individuals (18+ years of age) in West Yorkshire to gain access to our 6 month employment program. This will provide work experience, opportunities and training in the Energy Efficiency sector.

There are three parts to the program

1 Engage – We complete an initial assessment with a tailored action plan and 1 to 1 support package to overcome any barriers. We use a holistic approach toward increasing motivation which in turn will improve aspiration for their future.

2 Inspire – Once participants are job ready they will be supported to enhance their employability skills. Using bespoke sector based training alongside further pre-employment training. We will support our participants to recognise their skills and self-worth to increase their self-confidence; which plays a major part in them finding suitable employment. During this section of the program they will be undergoing:

  • Career planning , CV building, interview skills and careers guidance
  • Home Energy awareness training – we will be providing training to enhance their skills and knowledge and understand domestic environment efficiency
  • Confidence building – looking at team work, mind-set and communication
  • Financial management – support with obtaining ID if required, budget planning, better off calculations to establish benefits of employment
  • Healthy living and wellbeing – promote healthy life style and the big impact small changes can make
  • Life skills – organisation and time management skills
  • Digital skills – support with improving IT skills and using on line tools such as Zoom and Teams to enhance job opportunities.

3 Motivate – Our award winning Green Doctors will offer work placements to provide our participants with work experience and training to enable them to offer home energy advice to overcome fuel poverty.
