The One Stop Scholarship Programme is supporting young people, who are self-supporting or from low income backgrounds, through university. Candidates will receive financial support and real life work experience throughout their studies while working towards a graduate role at One Stop.

Applications are once again open to 18 to 24 year-olds who live within two miles of a One Stop store in England and Wales. In order to be eligible, applicants must have been offered a place on a university degree course relevant to Online, Technology, Sustainability or Community with a course start date in Autumn 2023.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 30th April 2023.

Luke’s story

Luke Slattery is a student at the University of Hull. Luke was keen to apply for the One Stop Scholarship programme because it offered practical work experience which he felt would deepen his understanding of the industry he was working toward and keep him motivated in his degree.

Despite Luke’s nerves throughout the application and interview process, he was put at ease and even noticed an increase in his confidence thanks to the valuable experience which was novel to him. Part of the interview process is an experience day which consists of a variety of activities, tasks and mini-interviews with One Stop leaders. Luke enjoyed the experience day, and left knowing that no matter the result, he could now present himself well in interviews. He received a call informing him he’d been successful one week later – on his birthday!

I received a call informing me that I had been accepted onto the Scholarship in the Online section and was told to enjoy my summer and to reconvene with the careers partner and online leaders in monthly video calls once I had started at university. These meetings provided mentoring sessions for both general support, such as moving away from home to go to university, as well as Professional, Leadership & Career development to help improve my skills and weaknesses, preparing me for my time in the workplace. It is a very useful and inspirational experience and I look forward to hearing about how One Stop’s online sector is growing month by month. The entire online sector of One Stop was created a little over six-months ago and has already grown in size and even more significantly in achievements. You really will be applying for a creative company with huge ambitions in which you can make a real difference.
