Nordmann Fir
- The Nordmann fir originates from the mountains south and east of the Black Sea, in Turkey and Georgia.
- The tree is named after the Finnish zoologist Alexander von Nordmann (1803–1866), who was the director of the Odessa Botanical Gardens, in Ukraine.
- It is grown for Christmas trees, as its needles are not sharp and do not drop readily when the tree dries out.
- Its wood is also used for general construction and for making paper, as it is soft and white.
