Reaching Communities: Wellies in the Woods
Groundwork is helping children in need of extra provision access nature on their doorstep through storybook inspired sessions in local green spaces and places.

Reaching Communities: Wellies in the Woods will support asylum seeker and migrant children to confidently connect with and enjoy nature, improve literacy skills and encourage reading, wherever they live and whatever their circumstances.

Aims of the programme
Through play based outdoor activities, this positive initiative will reduce the inequalities that exist for children from asylum seeker and migrant households. Boosting health, wellbeing and educational attainment and encouraging quality play time to build stronger family relationships.
Funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, the two-year programme will be delivered by regional Groundwork Trusts in Greater Manchester, London, West Midlands and Yorkshire, working in conjunction with specialist partner organisations to help identify and encourage involvement.
