SEGRO Greener Communities
Groundwork worked alongside SEGRO to deliver Greener Communities – a programme of green space improvement projects that increased biodiversity, supported community cohesion and offered skills and training opportunities at local projects across England.
The initiative built upon the first two years of the partnership and aimed to deliver multiple outcomes for the environment, communities – contributing to SEGRO’s Investing in Local Communities and Environments strategy, via activity that:
- Improved the quality of green spaces close to SEGRO-managed properties, increasing biodiversity and delivering wellbeing benefits to the community
- Engaged local communities, including through open days, events or volunteering activities
- Supported people to develop skills and move closer to the labour market via a ‘Green Team’, made up of unemployed or economically disadvantaged people, who engaged in project delivery and training, learning new skills and developing the confidence to move closer to the labour market.
