The Pond
The Pond is a great place to see a variety of dragonflies and if you’re lucky, you may catch a glimpse of a newt!
This pond is seasonal meaning in summer it dries up. This is not a bad thing as it enables a variety of species to make use of the fluctuating habitat.

In winter the pond is home to the larvae of dragonflies, and offers a source of drinking water for a number of seed eating birds visiting the site.
Look out for the funky shaped Bogbean Menyanthes trifoliata that flowers in Spring as well as the bright and bold Purple Loosestrife Lythrum salicaria and Yellow Loosestrife Lychimachia vulgaris
