Designed and developed by Groundwork Northern Ireland, Bonfire Beacons have become popular local attractions in recent years and not just for the traditional July celebrations - they are used in community and cultural festivals throughout the year – including Halloween.
- Often, the Bonfire Beacon is the biggest conversation point of the festival, especially when it arrives pre-packed and ready for the celebrations to begin.
- Each Bonfire Beacon design is a reusable, two-part steel structure, reaching five metres in height and is pre-filled with carbon neutral willow wood.
- Resting on a bed of sand, underlying surfaces like roads, car-parks or grassed areas are protected from heat damage as the beacon ignites and burns.
- Since 2008, Groundwork Northern Ireland have delivered and installed over 120 beacons for a range of cultural and community events throughout Northern Ireland.
