Work with us to reduce waste going to landfill by repurposing and upcycling furniture. Our community reuse hubs known as The Loops collect, refurbish and redistribute household items which would have otherwise gone to landfill. Volunteering experiences at The Loops include: upholstering, painting and varnishing, sanding and fixing, creating innovative storage and display solutions, and making improvements to the hubs themselves.

Get creative at the Pembury Loop

The Pembury Loop collects old furniture that would otherwise be thrown away, often sent to landfill. Together with our local trainees, we upcycle the furniture and then sells it back to residents at affordable prices. The Loop has many environmental benefits, including conserving materials, saving energy, reducing waste sent to landfill, but also helps people save money, offers local people the opportunity to learn new skills and creates jobs.

The Loops volunteers

Recently teams of volunteers from BNY Mellon and Multiplex have spent the day upcycling furniture and refurbishing the garage space that houses The Loop. The volunteers fixed, sanded, painted, and stained a number of household items and furniture in our specialist workshop. Everything that was upcycled was saved from landfill and now, thanks to their hard work, will be sold onto local residents. The garage space that the volunteers painted will be transformed into a showroom to showcase the furniture available to buy.

Thank you
“I was really impressed by the Multiplex volunteering team, who embraced all the challenges we gave them. They were a lot of fun to be around, completed some excellent upcycling projects and helped us begin repainting the garages. There are so many things we want to achieve with The Loop and having this enthusiastic team with us for the day was incredible.”
