As an Environmental Partner of the Enterprise Development Programme (EDP), Groundwork is supporting charities and social enterprises operating in the environment sector to become more sustainable.

The programme will run until April 2024 with Groundwork providing tailored support to around 60 organisations to help grow their business or enterprise.

Groundwork is working closely alongside a cohort of environmental organisations to help them to develop a package of support including:

  • Access to a bespoke learning package co-designed by organisations and Groundwork,
  • The opportunity for financial support to put learning into action,
  • Peer-learning and networking opportunities with other participants,
  • Access to pro bono legal and financial expertise,
  • Valuable information about the world of social enterprise from leading experts.

The EDP is developed and funded by Access – The Foundation for Social Investment and managed by Social Investment Business (SIB). It provides a broad range of support for charities and social enterprises working in certain sectors in England, helping them to expand or upscale their existing business or enterprise model and ways of working.

Case Study: Forest of Hearts

“Forest of Hearts were keen to access the training and peer to peer experience that would allow them to focus their organisational structure. The programme has allowed them to modulate aspects of their charity such as tree planting into packages that are able to generate income for their work. The grant support also incentivised them to apply, allowing them to increase staff who have developed aspects of their outreach such as social media that they were under-resourced to focus on before.”
