Groundwork Shop

groundwork shop

Groundwork South and North Tyneside’s community shop, based at the Middlefields Recycling Village in South Shields, recycles unwanted items and the income generated is reinvested into the local community to improve green spaces, create better neighbourhoods and to build skills and job prospects.

The shop was originally set up in 2006 due to a shared desire between Groundwork STAN and South Tyneside Council to reduce the amount of domestic waste going to landfill and in turn help to protect the environment.

The shop sells a treasure trove of wonders, including hoovers, three-piece suites, TVs and a range of children’s toys such as electric cars and go karts. Donations are cleaned, small repairs made, and electrical goods are PAT tested, before being sold on at an affordable cost, making the goods accessible to residents who may find it difficult to purchase the same item full price.

Items can be purchased by visiting the Groundwork shop. Stock can also be viewed through the Groundwork Shop Facebook page.
