Training Courses and Work Experience

We work in partnership with colleges, jobcentres, employers and organisations like housing associations to ensure our courses are tailored to local need. We’re firm believers in lifelong learning and that it’s never too late to make a fresh start, so we seek to get people involved who often wouldn’t think education is for them.

Our courses are often practical in nature, recognising the desire of many people to learn outside of the classroom. Learning is often linked with additional employability support and signposting for those who have particular needs around their health, housing or personal circumstances such as addiction or debt.

Our specialisms include:

  • Employability: promoting teamwork and timekeeping while supporting CV writing and interview skills.
  • Embedded learning: delivering functional skills and vocational qualifications through work experience in community settings – such as ‘green teams’ undertaking practical environmental projects alongside major employers.
  • Employer-focused: our approach is based on ‘starting with the job’ and tailoring learning to help people compete for upcoming vacancies.
  • Green skills: we help people find work that will help us address environmental challenges – from managing green spaces to ‘upcycling’ furniture.
  • Adult learning: Short courses that give a taste of education such as woodwork, cooking, horticulture and creative arts, giving people a stepping stone towards more formal training.
  • Personal development: building confidence and motivation through volunteering and social action
