Our major projects

Colne Valley Regional Park

Groundwork South is the managing agent for the Colne Valley Community Interest Company and work with the Friends of Colne Valley Park and other partners to maintain and enhance the park.

The Colne Valley Regional Park – the first real taste of the countryside immediately west of London –covers 43 square miles, a mosaic of farmland, woodland and water – 200 miles of river and canal, and more than 60 lakes. This landscape is precious and extremely fragile. It is under constant pressure, especially from huge transport infrastructure projects – the HS2 high speed rail line is destined to slice right across it, and the proposed expansion of Heathrow airport affects its southern end.

Recent National Lottery funding of £1.63m means a wide-ranging project: ‘Colne Valley: A Landscape on the Edge’ will start this Autumn. This is a partnership bringing together wildlife organisations, local authorities, and water companies, led by Groundwork South.

Visitor Centre and Riverside Café,
 Denham Country Park, nr Uxbridge

The visitor centre is the central information point for the whole of the Colne Valley Regional Park.

The cafe is a great place to relax and enjoy a cup of tea with a freshly baked cake. Overlooking the River Misbourne, the veranda and picnic area is a great place to sit and take in the view.

We run events from the visitor centre itself, and it is a great place to have a children’s party. Our ‘green and wild’ parties are very popular, and available all year round – a great way to get children enjoying nature and outdoor adventure!

For more information on our events or to book a party please call 01895 833 375 or email
