Torbay’s New Community Green Spaces Support

Posted on 14 March 2016

Working with Torbay Council Groundwork South has appointed a Community Green Spaces worker to support and assist community groups regenerating and transforming parks in Torbay.  The post is funded by Torbay Council to improve community engagement and increase opportunities for groups to make a difference to the places which matter to them.

Groundwork South supports people to work collectively to make their surroundings greener, safer and healthier and to get more involved in the way decisions are made about their area.  The charity helps people of all ages work together to protect, preserve, improve or create parks and other green spaces that matter to them.

Groundwork South’s new Community Green Spaces worker, Debs Rylands, will work with volunteers, local people and friends groups to deliver mentoring, training and facilitation to make their ideas a reality. Debs said: “I am delighted to be working in Torbay and welcome residents, friends of groups, local charities and organisations to make contact with me to discuss their ideas for improvements to local green spaces”.
