Background

Over the past few years, we have been working in Daisy Nook, a valued natural site within the Medlock Valley, to enhance habitats and strengthen local people’s skills, confidence, and connection with nature. Our new project will aim to boost biodiversity, restore habitats, and deepen people’s relationship with the natural environment.

What Groundwork are doing

Groundwork and City of Trees will deliver a variety of nature activities and training sessions at Daisy Nook, supporting a range of biodiversity improvements and nature connectivity, including:

  • Guided Nature Walks
  • Species Monitoring Sessions
  • Community activity days to improve the area
  • Green skills development to upskill local residents

We aim to remove 1 hectare of invasive species and restore 500 meters of footpaths across the site, as well as supporting local people to prepare for employment, particularly green jobs.

Further information will be added to our ‘Get Involved’ page soon.
