Our Green Doctors help vulnerable people boost their income by saving energy and water, so that they can live more comfortably and reduce their environmental impact.

Our community & youth workers support communities to realise their ambitions, providing a bridge to neighbourhood managers and other agencies.
Employment, training & skills
Our employment specialists increase residents confidence, allowing them to take their first step towards employment. We specialise in developing skills for the new, Green Economy.
Coaching & Personal Development
We deliver coaching and mentoring to people in the community who have an ambition to grow and develop.
Whether it’s an emerging community champion or a young person facing multiple challenges in life, we work on a 1-2-1 or on a group basis to provide the tools they need to deliver changes in their life and/or community.

Our landscape design teams and community workers engage local residents in the co-design of neglected spaces, creating vibrant, climate resilient greenspaces.
Retrofitting void properties
Our construction team bring void properties back into use, whilst simultaneously training people with the green skills needed to start a career in the construction sector.
Land & river management
Our environmental specialists work with residents, community groups and environmental partners to protect and enhance our green and blue spaces for people and nature.

Our Green Team programme provides skills & training opportunities to those starting a career in construction and/or Natural Environment.

Carbon reduction & net-zero services
Our Sustainable Business Consultants review, assess and provide independent advice on energy & waste, supporting the public sector to calculate their carbon footprint and identify opportunities for improvement.
Environmental training courses
Our team deliver a range of
environmental training courses, including Carbon Literacy, which help local authorities develop the knowledge and skills to deliver on their environmental commitments.
Business Improvement Districts
Our Business Improvement District (BID) team help local authorities implement BID projects in specific localities including business parks – creating safe, sustainable and vibrant locations where business can thrive.
Examples of our recent work
CASE STUDY: Grow Green, West Gorton
In 2018 West Gorton in Manchester became one of several demonstration projects that sought to embed Nature Based Solutions in long term city planning, development and management.
CASE STUDY: Our Rivers, Our City
In 2020 Manchester City Council commissioned Groundwork and other partners to stablish a plan of action that will energise improvements and maximise the potential of the river valleys for years to come.
CASE STUDY: Farms For Water
The Farms for Water project, made possible thanks to funding from the Water Environment Grant, enabled Groundwork to work with local farmers to deliver a range of actions to improve the water quality of the River Irwell.
