What Groundwork are doing

Our work will focus on three main areas:

• Stockport Green Leaders: We’re bringing together a group of young Green Leaders (ages 11–17) who will take part in weekly social‑action sessions. They will design their own environmental campaigns, improve a local green space, and build confidence and skills to become long‑term community stewards and environmental leaders, shaping Edgeley’s future.
• Rewilding: We’re rewilding 800 sq m of urban land across four key sites in Edgeley, including large‑scale bulb planting, new wildflower areas and nature‑friendly improvements that boost biodiversity and brighten everyday walking routes.
• Community artwork: Bespoke corten steel planters will be installed at locations around the Greek Street roundabout, including outside the Armoury Pub with a ‘Welcome to Edgeley’ sign integrated, creating a proud entrance to the neighbourhood.
